During Thursday night’s regular meeting, the Giddings ISD Board of Trustees discussed the impact of Governor Abbot’s Executive Order rescinding his previous mask mandate.
Taken into consideration was the Texas Education Agency’s continuing requirement for contact tracing, which requires quarantine periods for close contact exposure to COVID-19.
The result of the board discussion was to take no action on changing the current mask policy in place for all campuses in GISD.
The Board reaffirmed the following priorities in maintaining this policy:
Student Safety
Maximizing in-class instruction time for students
Maximizing the opportunity for students to participate in the activities they missed out on last year
Superintendent Roger Dees stated, “I’d like to thank the board for their careful consideration of the many different aspects of this issue and commend them on their continued support in providing the best and safest education environment for our students and staff.”
