Giddings High School

The Giddings Boys and Girls Powerlifting teams traveled  to Rockdale to compete
in the Tiger Invitational meet on Saturday, January 14th 2023. The Invitational
consisted of 13 schools and 213 lifters. The boys team finished 4th again this week and the
Girls team finished as Team Champions. Top Boys lifters: Stephen Ray finished 2nd in
his class with a total of 655 lbs., Cuyler Carney finished 3rd in his class with a personal
best total of 615 lbs., Ty Darnell finished 4th in his class with a personal best total of 755
lbs., John Dowell finished 4th in his class with a personal best total of 1000 lbs., Kevin
Ramirez finished 2nd in his class with a personal best total of 1345 lbs., and Jusiah
Sampleton won his class with a state qualifying total of 1860 lbs., Jusiah also was
awarded the best overall lifter in the Heavy division.
The top lifters for the Meet Champion girls team: Lydia Boriack 2nd in her class
with a personal best total of 335 lbs., Vanessa Hernandez finished 1st in her class with
a personal best total of 410 lbs., Jaida Rodeo finished 2nd in her class with a total of
555 lbs., Kayla Herrera finished 1st in her class with a total of 670 lbs., Jaiden Sauceda
finished 62nd in her class with a personal best total of 795. lbs total., Persia Rodriquez
finished 1st in her class with a Personal best total of 695 lbs., Ariana Ramirez finished
1st in her class with a total of 835 lbs., and Adriana Garcia finished 1st in her class with
a personal best of 1060 lbs. The Boys and Girls teams will be traveling to Cameron
Texas on Saturday January 21, 2023 to compete in the Yoeman Invitational.
