The Buffaloes Proudly Welcome Luke Hobbs Back to Giddings --

The Giddings I.S.D. Board of Trustees hired Luke Hobbs to be the new Athletic Director and Head Football Coach for the Buffaloes during a special meeting held on January 20, 2025.

Hobbs, originally from Roy, Utah, played multiple sports in high school and continued his football career as a quarterback at Utah Tech. He later moved to Texas, where he completed his degree at Prairie View A&M in 2017.

Hobbs has quickly risen through the coaching ranks. This hiring marks a return to Giddings for Coach Hobbs, who previously coached the Buffaloes in 2018 as quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator. The Buffaloes were 11-2 that season under head coach Wade Griffin. He has also held positions at Brenham High School and his alma mater, Roy High School, where he served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. In 2022, Hobbs became the offensive coordinator and playcaller at Columbus High School under head coach Matt Schobel. He helped lead Columbus to a 12-2 record and a state quarterfinal appearance.

Most recently, Hobbs has served as the athletic director and head coach at Schulenburg High School, where he took over a team that was 0-10 the previous season. He quickly turned the program around, achieving a 5-6 record in 2023 and an 8-4 record in 2024.

Coach Hobbs, his wife Savannah, and their three children are excited to return to Giddings and rejoin the community.
